Slot machines are the most popular form of Internet casino entertainment. An online progressive slot machine accumulates deposits from its players from a number of online casinos to create jackpots that grow by the minute. Microgaming, the major software provider for the online gambling industry, has eight progressive slot games. Each of these slots accumulates deposits from nearly 100 online casinos. This article discusses Microgaming’s eight progressive slot machines, including Major Millions, Cash Splash, Fruit Fiesta, King Cashalot, LotsaLoot, Treasure Nile, Tunzamunni, and Mega Moolah.

Major Millions, with a jackpot starting at $250,000, is by far the largest progressive slot on the Internet. Major Millions comes in both a 3-reel and a newer 5-reel version. Major Millions is the only progressive jackpot that has ever paid out jackpots exceeding $1,000,000. Three Major Millions symbols on the third payline pays out the progressive jackpot if you have played the maximum bet of $3.00.

Treasure Nile is a 5-reel, 9-payline, 9-coin progressive slot machine. You win the Treasure Nile jackpot by playing the maximum bet of $4.50 and by hitting 5 Pharaoh symbols on the 9th payline.

Cash Splash, the first online progressive jackpot, is a 3-reel, single payline, 3-coin progressive slot. You win the Cash Splash jackpot by playing the maximum bet of $3.00 and by hitting 3 Cash Splash symbols on the payline.

Fruit Fiesta is a 3-reel, 3-payline, 3-coin progressive slot machine. You win the Fruit Fiesta jackpot by playing the maximum bet of 75 cents and by hitting 3 Fruit Fiesta symbols on the third payline.

King Cashalot is a 5-reel, 9-payline, 10-coin progressive slot. You win the King Cashalot jackpot by playing the maximum bet of $2.25 and by hitting 5 King Cashalot symbols on the ninth payline.

LotsaLoot is a 3-reel, 5-payline, 5-coin progressive slot machine. You win the LotsaLoot jackpot by playing the maximum bet of $2.50 and by hitting 5 LotsaLoot symbols on the fifth payline.

Tunzamunni is a 3-reel, single-payline, 5-coin progressive slot. With the maximum bet of just 25 cents, Tunzamunni is more practical for many players. You win the Tunzamunni jackpot by playing the maximum bet of 25 cents and by hitting a White, Red, and Blue Seven (in that exact order) on the payline.

Mega Moolah is Microgaming’s newest progressive slot. Mega Moolah is a 5-reel, 25 payline slot machine with an African wildlife theme. The Mega jackpot starts at $1,000,000, and you can spin the Jackpot Wheel for a chance to win one of four progressive jackpots. The coin range is 0.01 to 0.05, and you can bet up to 5 coins per payline. With a maximum bet of $6.25, you could win a possible payout of $11,250 with the Free Spins bonus feature.

So there you have it, eight online progressive slot machines from Microgaming. Remember to gamble with the money that you can afford to lose. Decide beforehand how much you wish to spend, and don’t exceed your spending limit should you lose. Never gamble when you are tired or irritable. Finally, have fun and quit while you are ahead.

Every day, we make decisions based on what we think may, or most likely will, happen. Many of these decisions seem to be based more on wishful thinking than on logic - sure, you’ll run off that extra banana split! No, of course you won’t get a parking ticket in the course of a five-minute stop! But nowhere can we see more of these hopeful, if not necessarily logical, guesses about the future than in gambling and betting.

From the stock market to the office betting pool, from the political futures market to the casino, from the street-corner game of three-card monte to a familial round of poker, we all act as if we believe that winning is always a possibility. But what so many of us don’t know is that mathematics offers an entire body of research, speculation and solid fact dedicated to helping us predict the future.

With probability, as this field of mathematical inquiry is called, we can make more educated guesses as to the likeliest outcome of a given event. (Probability’s applicability to games of chance is no accident, either - mathematicians began studying it in seventeenth-century France partly in order to understand how such games worked, since they were an important pastime among the very aristocratic patrons who performed or funded math research and other intellectual pursuits.)

The simplest way to figure probability is as a fraction. Let’s say someone dares you to reach into a box filled with four real dollar bills and five fakes. In this case, the likelihood of getting a dollar bill on your first grab is 4/9 - four out of nine (the ratio of real dollar bills to the total number of items in the box). You could also express this probability as a percentage - just divide 4 by 5. You get around forty-four percent - not terrible. Why not take the risk, especially since you’re not losing anything?

Now let’s make the problem a little harder - figuring the outcome of a coin toss. Being able to “call” heads or tails may not seem like a very important skill in the scheme of things, but it never hurts’ and you never know.

Viewers of the popular recent movie No Country For Old Men will recall the frightening scene in which bad guy/hitman Anton Chigurh, played brilliantly by Javier Bardem, stalks into a remote Texas gas station and offers to let the proprietor live - if he “calls” a coin toss correctly. “What’s the most you’ve ever lost on a coin toss?” Chigurh says, mocking the terrified man. In other words - sometimes it pays to know a little probability!

So let’s say you’ve been asked to call a coin toss - hopefully not by a madman with a gun. If it’s a single coin toss, the result is pretty simple to figure: you can either call heads or tails, and the probability that the coin will agree with you is, basically, 1/2, with two being the number of possible results (heads, tails). That yields a probability, of course, of fifty percent. Not bad. Might as well call it, friend-o.

Your chances at the roulette wheel, however, aren’t quite so good. And the reason, again, has to do with probability. On a roulette wheel, you have 38 slots: two green, 18 red, and 18 black. Let’s say you bet simply on “red” - a hedged bet, with a correspondingly lower payout. Your chances of winning are 18 out of 38. That yields a not-too-terrible forty-seven percent chance.

If you play for the real money - placing your bet on, say, red-ten - your chances plummet to 1 in 38, or a little less than three percent. Suddenly we can see how casino owners manage to afford to stay in business. These are, of course, incredibly simple applications of - and examples of - probability.

Scientists use probability to study everything from political events (the likelihoods of assassination and coup attempts), to the possibility of Earth-like planets existing at various points in the galaxy. Insurance agencies use probability in order to anticipate risk; economists and investors use it to make guesses about stock performance and other variables.

Mathematicians have even used probability to study the effect of peoples’ assumptions about the probability of certain events - for example, how does cynicism about the market contribute to economic downturn? How do fears of further Middle East conflict affect oil prices? Probability may be as simple as a coin toss - but it’s as complicated as existence.

The business of online casinos is hotting up, with more and more traditional casinos taking their gambling and betting online. This presents an opportunity for some easy money for any web surfer who can take the time to sign up to an Internet gambling site.

As an incentive to get us to gamble on their site, casinos are now offering welcome bonuses. As competition gets fiercer, these welcome bonuses are getting larger, and casinos are offering more incentives to encourage users to signup.

The art of scalping - of signing up, taking the bonus, and running - has risen alongside the size of the bonuses. Casinos have fought back by placing restrictions on new users. For example you cannot withdraw your bonus without placing a certain number of wagers, or you need to place at least one wager worth X dollars.

Scalpers retaliated by putting their bonus money into games with the lowest house edge, like Craps, Baccarat, Roulette, and Blackjack. Casinos again stepped up the ante by placing minimum wager restrictions on these games, or lengthening the time period between a new user signing up and being able to withdraw their funds.

So, there is a lot of bonus money available, but the casinos are making it as difficult as they can to get your hands on that cash. Scalpers and canny gamblers have responded by literally beating the casinos at their own game.

Many online gambling sites will offer enough of a signup bonus to make it easy to start playing some games - without having to risk your own money. Blackjack in particular offers the best odds.

The goal here is not to aim for large wins - rather, by using the signup bonus to match the online gambing site’s minimum wager requirements, you can slightly increase your pile of cash. After only a few games, you should be able to withdraw your signup bonus money - with interest! Even if you lose, the amounts being wagered are small, and after all - it’s not actually your money you are risking.

Having established some small wins and familiarised yourself with the game, you can either cash out, or for the more stringent online casinos (usually those with the largest signup bonus) you can move on to another game with relatively low odds - Roulette.

By using the online casinos signup bonus in this way, you can easily match their rules, enabling you to withdraw the cash to your own bank account. Beating the online casinos at their own game is particularly satisfying - especially when it’s not your own money you are betting!

Craps or Dice Craps the name is enough to put you off which is probably why most people don’t want to play it! Yet the odds on craps will favour the player so why don’t gamblers on this side of the pond want to play the game, is it because the love giving their hard earned dosh to the casino’s.

Maybe they don’t know how to play it and worse still are afraid to ask. Don’t worry we are about to show you how.

Not sure what the crap table looks like see the picture below. There are 36 possible combinations that can be made from rolling two dice, there is only one way to roll a two, two ways to roll a three, three ways to roll a four, four ways to roll a five, five ways to roll a six, six ways to roll a seven, then you start to reverse this sequence for the higher numbers 5 ways to roll an 8, 4 ways to roll a 9, 3 ways to roll a 10, 2 ways to roll 11 and only one way to roll 12.

The Shooter
The Player rolling the dice is the Shooter he will throw a pair of dice from one end of a craps table to the other end (back wall) thus establishing a ‘point number’ this is where the term ‘Making the point’ comes in this is done by throwing a 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 when a point is made a white marker known as the puck is placed on the table at the relevant number. This number then becomes the point of the game the shooter will carry on trying to roll that same point number, there is no time limit.

Betting
Players bet on what number they think the shooter will roll and payouts are based on odds calculated on that happening against a 7 being rolled.
Roll a 7 and the game is over and the dice are moved or passed on to the next player who then becomes the stickman, you will also hear the casino declare “7 out new shooter”.

Although there are lots of side bet possibilities the initially betting involves just two bets the Pass Line and the Don’t Pass Line.

PASS LINE - DON’T PASS LINE
This is your basic craps bet, paying even money the house edge here is minimal at 1.4% Place your bet before the first roll of the dice in a new game if the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 you win immediately, you lose immediately if a 2, 3 or 12 are rolled and of course if any other number is rolled 4,5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 these become the point number.

Once the point number is set you win, if the shooter rolls the point number before he rolls a 7 you win, should he roll a 7 before the point number you lose.

The reversal of the pass line bet the Don’t Pass Line, should the shooter roll 3 or 12 you win, roll 7 or 11 you lose and if the 2 is rolled you have a ‘push’ and your bet is returned. Should the shooter make his point, the don’t pass line bet wins if he rolls a 7 before making the point again.

These two bets kick off the game but after this is where the game of craps takes on a whole new persona.

COME - DON’T COME
It’s actually the same bet as the pass line but is made after the point has been made and pays even money. You can make a Come bet before any roll of the die and you win if the shooter rolls 7 or 11 and lose if 2, 3 or 12, any other number becomes the ‘come point’ and you win if the shooter rolls that number before rolling a 7.

Like the don’t pass line bet the Don’t Come bet is a reversal of the come bet you win if the roll is 3 or 12 lose if 7 or 11 a 2 is a ‘push’ and your bet is returned and once the ‘come point’ is made you win if a 7 is rolled and lose if the come point is rolled.

PLACE BET
This is a bet made on any of the point numbers which are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 they are paid at house odds. You can make or remove these bets anytime before a shooter rolls and you can place these bets to lose, that is you are betting a 7 will be rolled before the placed number is thrown. e.g. you bet a placed ‘no 8′ this means you bet 7 will be rolled before an 8. Be aware the chances of this happening are quite high so the odds are low and you have to pay the ‘vig’ this is the house commission and is usually 5%.

FIELD BET
The field box is in the middle of the table and most player make this bet, your betting that numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 will be thrown next, the odds are even except for the two and twelve which varies but can be 3/1 in some casino’s. With this bet you lose if the shooter throws a 5, 6, 8 or 7.

PROPOSITION BET
A one roll bet with names to lure you to make them such as ‘any craps’ ‘horn’, ‘hardway”,
Any Craps - the bet is that the next roll will be a 2, 3, or 12

Horn - the next roll will be 2, 3, 11 or 12

Hardway - the bet here is that the shooter will roll 4, 6, 8, or 10 as pairs of numbers before rolling a 7 or a point is made by rolling two different values. for instance here you betting that an hard 8 a pair of 4’s are going to be rolled before a 7 or 5 & 3 or 6 & 2

Things to watch out for at the craps table, avoid side bets the odds are usually in favour of the house and in fact this is where the house makes most of it’s money.

Betting the 7 the house makes sure it has the edge here paying out at 4/1 when the real odds are more like 5/1.

Betting on 11 pay out is good but the house gives itself a good edge.

The horn a fourway bet sounds a good bet but the odds are again in favour of the house.

Any craps used by some as an insurance bet but once again it favours the house.

Hardways a good fun bet but the odds are stacked against you.

Superstitious Crap players are the most superstitious of the lot here are some things to watch out for.

1. It’s unlucky to say Seven players prefer to say ‘It’ such as I hope IT doesn’t come up.

2. If the dice bounce off the table, the next roll will almost certainly be a 7, so you’ll see lots of players remove their bets if the dice leave the table. They will also be heard to shout same dice so a new set won’t be brought out.

3. Bad luck if the dice hit’s anyone’s hand (fortunately this can’t happen online.)

4. Lady crap players who are rolling for the first time will always have a hot roll whereas men won’t

5. It’s poor form to touch the shooter when he’s having a roll (can’t do this one online either.)

6. It’s bad luck if the stick man pushes the dice to you with a 7 showing (stickmen will avoid doing this.)

7. If a player places new money on the table during a roll and the dice hit it the next roll will be a 7 once again you can’t do this online.
